the phrase >tropical< is currently getting used to describe a lot of different music, some good, some bad, some ugly. to save on confusion senseless went out and travelled the world to find some music from the actual tropics, venezuela to be precise. somewhere buried deep in the mysterious rainforest, or possibly just in a studio in caracas, they found pocz and pacheko. it?s so near the equator maybe we can ditch the ?tropical bass? tag and go for something new, >equatorial bass< perhaps? maybe not. pacheko, francisco mejia, will be familiar to some for his solo releases on lo dubs, murder channel, seclusiasis and for his work with legendary venezualan expat cardopusher. his partner in bass pocz (carlos majoral) is a classically trained musician and production engineer. along with a select few others they run abstractor, a collective of producers, artists and designers, who promote parties, run a blog and do a fine job of representing bass music in venezuela pretty much solo. the collective includes graphic artist design or die who is responsible for the incredible artwork and pretty special video for >zarbak<.

bvdub and sofie loizou are two passioned artists who have a special collaboration on this southern outpost offshoot! sofie loizou is at the forefront of the electronic music scene in australia and brock van wey (bvdub)is one of america s most prolific electronical artists known for his excellent deep house and dubby techno releases! the ep is evocative and wistful, enveloping the listener in a dream state. the two made an equisite piece of lush ambient techno with vocals of the polish natalia grosiak (produced by polish sound artist dawid szczesny). the combination of natalia s enchanting vocals and exquisite textural sound beds creates a sublime experience of blissful melancholy. this is a highly limited run of only 200 copies... yeah we know.. it s crazy to have a bvdub collaboration this limited... but its just a fun project of southern outpost and friends! don t sleep

we have never done a project like this before where the artists choose all the remixers themselves. but for the crazy italoboyz album >bla bla bla< we found ourselves not really knowing what to do. so instead of forcing our own ideas for remixers we went back to the source and let the artists run wild on the a&r. marco and fede commissioned all the remixers themselves. the producers they chose are a very diverse bunch and the vinyl 12inch takes a sampling of the best material from two very big underground names. on the a-side das kraus duo turn it a super jackin yet also very haunting rendition of >oh mio dio.< it sounds like pitched up chicago house meets demon days. on the b-side old school master dandy jack turns in one of the oddest records ever on mothership with some unusual sound design, voices and semi-dischordant note runs. super weird for the super weird! whatever you think of this odd lot no one can deny these remixes definitely carry the indistinguishable mark of that ever so quirky duo, the italoboyz
